Happy 50th Birthday to Tesselaar Tulip Festival!

Thursday September 16 to Wednesday October 13
Each year thousands upon thousands of people flock to the Tesselaar Tulip Festival in Silvan, but when Cees Tesselaar began growing Tulips few people in Australia knew what a Tulip looked like.
People would come from miles away to admire Tesselaar’s fields of Tulips (jumping the fence to get a closer look).
In 1954 Cees decided to open the farm to the public and the first Tulip Festival was born. In the early days visitors were charged a small entry fee that was donated to the Red Cross. Since then the Tulip Festival has raised over seventy thousand dollars for the Red Cross and other charity organisations.
